John 1:3 (KJV) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
When we read the gospel stories, we might be tempted to see Jesus only as a man. A great and loving man, to be sure, but still just a man. So we are wise to remember that through Jesus, everything was made, including all of humanity. Jesus himself precedes creation. So when we look at Jesus, we see not just a man, but the fullness of the Father, in all of His power and sovereignty.
Lord, I thank You for revealing Yourself in Jesus. It leaves me awestruck and humbled to have the joy of knowing the Creator of the universe. And it is with gratitude that I acknowledge not only the Creative power of Your hands but the saving power of those same hands that were stretched out on a cross so that I might be redeemed. In Jesus’ name, amen.
