With this year's Geneva International Motor Show (as well as other global auto shows) canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, most automakers had to resort to showing their new vehicles online. While there's nothing wrong with showing new models through pictures and articles, sometimes it's just not enough.

Volkswagen wants to amend that by hosting a virtual motor show online, as VW fans can check out their latest models for two weeks at any time of the day. From the Touareg R, Golf GTI, Golf GTD, Golf GTE, as well as the ID.3, visitors can take a closer look at all the vehicles Volkswagen has on their digital booth.

All of the vehicles on display have been digitally-processed for the 360-degree experience. The vehicles have been meticulously reanimated in 3D, allowing users to go around them and view them in detail. They can also read up on some trivia and other technical info of the car, as well as choose the desired color and wheel choice for some vehicles. There's even a cool display of the ID. Insight wherein the user can drag an X-ray-like device that shows the car's inner workings in real-time.

Those interested in seeing Volkswagen's new crossovers, they also have the droptop T-Roc Cabriolet, the T-Cross, and the powerful Touareg R. And it's all done in 3D.

“I am pleased that our marketing team has succeeded in making our booth available to all visitors despite the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show. Virtually, they can experience our team’s attention to detail in the presentation of this show and our product highlights. Once again, this demonstrates that special situations call for special solutions,” said Jurgen Stackmann, member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and After-Sales.

They will then be taken to a website that shows a virtual representation of Volkswagen's booth. It's not just a simple booth, however, as Volkswagen made it just like the real thing complete with huge screens, high-tech exhibits, background music, and ambient lighting.

As the world continues to battle the coronavirus, automakers are forced to change how they showcase their products due to the contagion. Volkswagen's recent move, however, is perhaps one of the smartest, safest and most innovative ways of showing their products.
