Your After-Life Dream: HEAVEN

Someday your heart will stop beating. A day will come when you will no longer cast a shadow in the sun. It could happen just about anytime…..and you know that. Whether you believe it or not, after you go from here you only have two final destinations:

a) A forever life of being separated from God or
b) a forever life of being with Him, the source of all true joy and bliss.

You want to be in heaven of course…..That’s your after-life dream.

Your Hindrance to Heaven: YOU

Why does it seem easy to do bad than to do good? Why does it seem easy to take revenge than not to? God seems so far away when you pray. Do you remember the last time you prayed? The Bible is God’s Word, yet you don’t delight in it. God’s commandments seem a burden to you. A chain around your neck. An annoying fence around your freedom. A rain on your parade. A kill-joy in your party.

You can’t control your urges and desires. Every time you see some titillating scenes on T.V. or in the movie house, you either have acted it out already in your mind or have planned to do it with someone you are not married to. Going to church is a drag and a sleeping pill.

Even words like “holiness”, “Bible”, “righteousness”, “godliness” etc. bore you. Sends your sleeping juices on the automatic.

Maybe you have heard of someone who died in their sleep, you realized your own mortality, you got scared of death, so you started doing good, you started reforming your ways but after some time the feelings wore off and your back again to your old self. You tried to be holy and righteous but it’s just not you. Or maybe you are someone who thinks that God will grade you on a curve. That if your good deeds outweigh your bad ones you’ll walk right in to heaven.

Actually, all these are the symptoms of a spiritually dead person. To be lovingly honest, this is what the Bible calls: “……alienated from the life of God” [Ephesians 4:18]. God’s ways are holiness and righteousness because He is holy and righteous. Only those who have God’s Holy Spirit can desire and live a holy and righteous life. The problem is YOU. A singer, sings. A dancer, dances. A sinner, sins. Only not as a profession but as a way of life because of the sinful nature innate in you.

God’s Standard: PERFECT RIGHTEOUSNESS

You are familiar with the story of Adam and Eve. No, I will not run that story again to you.
Rather, I’ll ask you some questions:

1) Where were Adam and Eve before the Fall?
Answer: Paradise
2) After the Fall where were they?
Answer: Out of Paradise.
3) What sin did they commit that they were driven out of Paradise?
Answer: They ate of the forbidden fruit.
4) How many sin was that?
Answer: One. A seemingly harmless infraction of a simple dietary prohibition.

Can you count the number of times you have sinned against God whether in thought, in motives or intentions, in desires, in words and actions?

You see, it takes only one sin to make you a sure candidate for the lake of fire. Your subsequent sins will determine only the degree of punishment you’ll be having in hell. God Almighty is that holy. God demands perfect obedience. Perfect obedience from birth to death.

Though there are degrees of sin, a single sin in whatever degree is big enough to plunge you to hell, even if you do not feel like it. Feeling is not the deciding factor here, but the fact. Fact is: You have sinned. Not only have you sinned in Adam but you have committed countless sins, more than one, too many to number. And the “wages of sin is death”(physical, spiritual, eternal death in the lake of fire). Romans 6:23. One sin and you're out!!! Your doubts that you might go to a place of punishment after you die are true.

God’s Solution to Man’s Desperate Condition: JESUS CHRIST

In God’s eyes no man living is righteous (Psalm 143:2). Because ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).In order for man to enter the kingdom of God, he must have perfect righteousness. He cannot find perfect righteousness in himself because no matter how hard he tries to be perfectly righteous in thought, in motives, in desires, words and actions, try as he might, he just cannot. His best works are not free from the smear of sin.

That’s why Isaiah says: ”But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags…”(Isaiah 64:6). We cannot find perfect righteousness then in ourselves. Our condition’s desperate. Oh For God to send Someone who is perfectly righteous, whose perfect righteousness God will impute to me!!! Someone who will die for my sins--past, present and future-- and completely take away all my sins so that in God’s eyes I will be perfectly righteous!

That Someone is the Lord Jesus Christ. Two thousand years ago He came, lived a perfectly righteous life, ρáíd the sins of sinners once for all time (Heb.10:11-12) by dying on the cross. Resurrected and ascended to heaven. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

In Him is perfect righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6, 1 Corinthians 1:30). God so loved the world that He gave His Son to die for the sins of sinners and was raised that anyone who will put their trust in Him alone for forgiveness of all sins, God will declare righteous. He will have a right relationship with God.

Without the Savior who died on the cross, there will be no forgiveness of sins no matter how sincere you may be in asking for forgiveness. Without the Savior who died on the cross, no human being in all of time-from Adam to the last human beings who will be on earth in the last day-will enter the kingdom of heaven. Without the Savior dying on the cross for the sins of sinners, there will be no going to heaven even if you do good all the time.

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”(John 14:6).

Put your trust in the Savior alone my friend. Repent, change your attitude towards God; revere Him. Change your attitude towards sin; abhor it. Change your attitude towards yourself; you cannot save yourself, you need a Savior. Change your attitude towards Christ; trust Him and what He did on the cross alone for forgiveness of sins and salvation. He’s your only hope. Now is the time to settle your eternal destiny.

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts…….”(Hebrews 3:15).

You will have nothing to lose [only your sins for they will be remembered no more by God], but everything to gain. For when you have God in your life, you have everything.

Ac 8:20 But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!

All of God's gifts are free. The principle contained in this verse can be applied to salvation.

God is not a salesman selling salvation. He is not a trader who gives salvation in exchange for church donations, offerings, pledges, tithes, good works, religious activities etc., though many people believe and think so.

It is to lower the value of an infinite and priceless gift when it is given in exchange for money or anything that fallen man can do. Gifts are offered freely and are to be received freely. That's the nature of a gift.
And you can have the free gift of salvation through faith in Christ.

Misconceptions About Salvation #1 --- The minimization of sin

One of the most common misconceptions about salvation today is the minimization of sin. Sin is minimized in many people's minds that they get horribly wrong about salvation. You see, if you are wrong about sin and self, you will be wrong about salvation. The cause of this misconception is the failure to see sin as it really is..

You see, sin is a spiritual heinous crime against God. A sinner is a spiritual criminal in God's eyes. Hell is God's infernal prison house. Every single sin is big enough to plunge us to hell. And just as you only have to commit one single crime to be viewed as a criminal in the eyes of civil authority here on earth, so you only have to commit one sin to make you a spiritual criminal in God's eyes. .

You and I are criminals, spiritual criminals. There is no such thing as a good sinner because there is no such thing as a good criminal. All criminals are bad. The term "good sinner" is an oxymoron. It's a combination of words that do not agree with each other. "Good sinner" is like saying "an honest liar" or "a respectful rapist" or "a loving murderer." .Friends, it's time to face the truth hard in the face. Houston, we have a problem. And that problem is us. We are sinners. We are spiritual criminals. None of us is good enough for God. To be confident about ourselves in meeting with God is to be blind as to who we are in His eyes. Our rightful place is to be humble and see our desperate need for the Savior.

Pr 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Man can be sincere and be sincerely right, but he can also be sincere and be sincerely wrong. His judgment as to the right path is not always reliable. What he thinks is right is not always right. In relation to salvation, men have trodden many different paths, convinced that it will lead them to heaven. Some of them are the following:

1. Good works superhighway
2. Reformation lane
3. Church alley
4. Charity--Donation street
5. I-am-morally-better-than-others avenue
6. Religion road
7. Prayers boulevard
8. Baptism expressway
9. Penance drive

All these lead to a dead-end. Because there is only one way to the Father: Jesus Christ.

1Ti 4:10 For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, WHO IS THE SAVIOR OF ALL MEN, ESPECIALLY OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE.

Some say: "Your God is a failure because He failed to save every single sinner in the world. Even right this moment, many are suffering in the place of torment and many more will be in the Lake of fire in eternity."

Our Answer

If God planned and decided to save every single sinner in the world INCLUDING UNREPENTANT SINNERS, then God certainly has failed. But if God has planned and decided to save sinners WHO REPENT, then God has not failed. So far, 100% of the time, He has saved every single sinner who repents and trust in the Savior.

Christ's salvation is sufficient for all but effective and is applied only to those who believe or trust in Him.

Mr 10:26 And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?"

27 But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible."


Did you get it? Salvation is humanly impossible. And yet many of us have attempted it by our works, efforts and religious activities etc.

We are all sinners, spiritually dead. Just as it is impossible for a physically dead man to make himself alive again so it is impossible for a spiritually dead man, a sinner, to save himself.

But with God, who is gracious, kind and merciful, a sinner can be saved. But not without cost. The salvation of a sinner is costly. It cost God His Son.

Since salvation is humanly impossible for a sinner, salvation then is not earned by our trying. It is received by our trusting in what the Savior did on the cross.

Napag-aralan mo na ba ng maigi ang religion na 'to lods? Ever read the Bible cover to cover? As well as all the ancient witnesses and evidences it presents for its own reliability & validity?

Siguro mas maigi na pag-aralan muna ang isang bagay bago mag-latag ng final decision about it.
I think any wise man would do so.

I have personally studied this myself for 10 years and counting.
Started off as a heavy skeptic, kasi nga para sakin, only fools have faith.
But...here I am.

* Job 40:4 "Behold, I am vile...

It is the sinner's realization as to who he is in the eyes of God apart from His grace. This describes the sinner's ruin.

* Joh 1:29 "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

It is the sinner's realization that it is only through Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, His death on the cross can he find forgiveness of sin. This sets forth the remedy.

* 2Co 6:2 ...Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

It is the sinner's realization that salvation can be possessed now. This speaks of the urgency of its reception. Salvation should be received now (notice twice in the verse the word "now" is repeated for emphasis).

And receiving it is by faith.

1Ti 2:5 ...there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus

A wooden bridge is an illustration of the Lord Jesus Christ as mediator. It is actually a life laid down. It came from a living tree that was chopped down and died. Laid down so that others can cross from this side to that, from point sinner to point God.

There is only one bridge between God and Man. If Christ did not lay down His life for sinners, we sinners could not cross from this side to God's side.Have you, by God's grace, used the bridge by relying on it for your salvation?

Let me introduce you the All-Holy God of the Bible. Yes, He is Love. But He is also a God who absolutely hates sin. And a Just God will not leave the guilty unpunished. As for the time of reckoning for man's sin, that belongs to the Judge (God) who sees all of man's thoughts and intentions as clear as daylight. Nothing is hidden from His sight.

Exodus 34:6-7
6 Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; 7 who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

“It is not against good works that we contend but simply faith in them.”

Often we are misrepresented as saying that Christians are no longer to do good works. Nothing could be further from the truth. No, on the contrary, we encourage good works. We exhort every single Christian to abound in good works.

What we are saying is exactly what Martin Luther said above: "It is not against good works that we contend but simply faith in them." Good works do not save. It's the Savior who saves. Good works have their proper place in the Christian life. But they are out of place if we make them our savior; if we put our trust in them to save us.

The Bible does not say: "For God so loved that world that whoever does good works and puts their trust in them shall not perish but have eternal life."

But it says: " “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. "

Yes, do good works but put your trust in the Savior and what He did on the cross for your salvation.

Good character and good works are never substitutes for the Savior and what He did on the cross for a sinner's salvation. Sadly and fatally, many have relied on who they are and what they are doing for their salvation, if not wholly, at least in part.

If we can be saved by good character and good works, then the Lord Jesus died unnecessarily. The fact that He died for our sins implies that being good and doing good could never do it.

This does not mean that we can just live as we please and live like the devil, rather this points to the necessity of trusting in Christ and what He did on the cross alone for salvation.

A saved sinner does good works FROM salvation, not FOR salvation.

It is clearly stated in this verse that salvation is By FAITH ALONE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST because if we are Co-Saviors, then we effectively say that THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS NOT ENOUGH. But He is enough to save every sinner who puts their full trust and confidence in Him for salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-10
[8]For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
[9]not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
[10]For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Notice in verse 10 it says, "created FOR good works", it does not say we are saved BY GOOD WORKS. For if that is the case, then we are our own saviors and not Jesus Christ, the only Savior of men.
