Leviticus 19:15 (KJV) Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
Justice demands fairness. But too often, we let our own perceptions cloud our judgment. It is right to show compassion for the poor, but we must temper our compassion by weighing the truth. It is right to befriend the well-off, but we must not allow their wealth and influence to purchase our compromise. In all judgments, truth and fairness must be our measures.
Lord, You call us to judge fairly and rightly. When judgment is required, help me to discern truth by Your wisdom. Let me not be tempted by riches and influence. Neither let me not be deceived by blind compassion. In all things, let Your righteousness prevail, so that You may be honored in all of my decisions. In Jesus’ name, amen.
