Genshin Impact Party Setup Guide
Here's everything you need to know about Genshin Impact's party and battle system.

Genshin Impact's gameplay system can be a little intimidating if you're completely new to the game. In this RPG, it's not as simple as having a random selection of characters in your party. Having a balanced setup is vital to dealing the most damage, as well as beating some of the high-level content later on. Using a four-character party setup, the game requires you to tackle enemies using its elemental-based battle system, meaning you'll need to be strategic.

To help you get familiar with the game's battle system, we've put together the most important things you should be aware of when it comes to setting up your party in Genshin Impact.

Roles

In Genshin Impact there are three main roles. Those are: Main Damage Dealer, Support Damage Dealer, and Support.

Role examples:

  • Main DPS: Diluc, Xiao, Hu Tao, Xiangling
  • Support DPS: Raiden Shogun, Ninguang, Xingqiu
  • Support: Barbara, Zhongli, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Venti
It's important to have a party with at least one Main Damage Dealer, along with two Support Damager Dealers, and one Support--but you can switch this last part around if you like or depending on the situation.

Visions and Elemental Reactions

Visions in Genshin Impact grant the user elemental abilities. There are seven Visions in total: Anemo, Electro, Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, Geo, and Dendro.

Combining certain Visions together is the key to creating Elemental Reactions and dealing the most elemental damage. Some combinations even create Elemental Charged attacks. You'll need to think about how you can counter specific enemies using this battle mechanic with the characters at your disposal.

Full list of Elemental Reactions

  • Frozen - When Cryo meets Hydro. Frozen beings are rendered immobile, but also become rock-hard
  • Vaporize I - When Pyro meets Hydro. The effects of Pyro and Hydro will dissipate when Vaporize occurs.
  • Vaporize II - Vaporize itself does not inflict DMG. But, the Pyro or Hydro attack that triggers Vaporize deals increased DMG.
  • Electro-Charged I - When Electro meets Hydro. Continuously deals Electro DMG until it wears off.
  • Electro-Charged II - Electricity arcs off of Electro-Charged beings, shocking Hydro-affected enemies nearby.
  • Electro-Charged Water - Electro attacks can electrify bodies of water, dealing DMG to all beings in the AoE.
  • Overloaded - When Pyro meets Electro. Resulting in an explosion, dealing AoE Pyro DMG. Can also destroy sturdy objects.
  • Superconduct - When Cryo meets Electro. Deals AoE Cryo DMG and decreases Physical RES for the affected being.
  • Burning - When Pyro meets Dendro. Continuously deals Pyro DMG until it wears off.
  • Swirl - When Anemo meets other elements, it can trigger Swirl.
  • Melt I - When Cryo meets Pyro. The effects of Cryo and Pyro dissipate when Melt occurs.
  • Melt II - Melt itself doesn't inflict DMG. But, the Pyro and Cryo attack that triggers Melt deals increased DMG.
  • Crystallize - When Geo comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro elements. Can generate corresponding Elemental Shards and provide your character with Elemental Shields, reducing DMG taken in battle.

Elemental Resonance

Genshin Impact also has a passive battle mechanic called Elemental Resonance. These are effects that correspond to the elemental types of your characters, so when there are particular combinations of elements in your party, the whole team will receive a buff in damage. For instance:

  • Two Pyro characters will execute Fervent Flames, increasing the party's attack by 25% while being affected by Cryo for 40% less time--an excellent buff when fighting Cryo enemies.
  • Shattering Ice will increase your team's CRIT Rate by 15% against enemies that are Frozen or affected by Cryo and you will be affected by Electro for 40% less time.
  • Any four elements in a party will execute Protective Canopy, increasing your team's Elemental Resistance and Physical Resistance by 15%.
Elemental Resonance is a pretty important aspect of team building, but you must have four characters in your setup to have it active.

Enhancing your team

When it comes to levelling your characters, it's important to focus on investing your collected materials into your strongest ones first--likely the ones you'll be playing with the most. The more you play, you'll also eventually gain valuable weapons and Artifacts that are Rare and Legendary.

You want to equip Artifacts to your characters to enhance their elemental abilities and stats, such as their CRIT Rate, ATK, DEF, Max HP and Elemental Mastery. You can also upgrade them as you gain materials. We've already together a You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. for you to check out as well.

Selecting your Party

Characters that are in the five-star category are among the most powerful in Genshin Impact, but early on you may not have access to many, or any, of them. When starting out, you'll get access to several free characters in the Prologue, including: Traveller, Amber, Kaeya, Lisa, Barbara, and Fischl.

These characters each represent Anemo, Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, and Electro--so you already have a pretty decent team that just needs building up. You can also easily gain Xiangling for free in the indefinite Spiral Abyss event, who is another great Main DPS character to add to your party.

As previously mentioned, it's important to have a party with at least one Main Damage Dealer, along with two Support Damager Dealers, and one Support--the last part being interchangeable. You also want to think about what Elemental Reactions will best suit the situation, so feel free to experiment with different team builds.

In fairness, there aren't really any bad Genshin Impact characters in the game, although there are certainly stronger ones than others who you may want to invest your Primogems and Wishes in as you progress.

Some of the best characters in the game right now:

  • Tartaglia
  • Raiden Shogun
  • Diluc
  • Thoma
  • Hu Tao
  • Keqing
  • Ganyu
  • Bennet
  • Zhongli

very nice thread. kaka miss tong larong to. natigil lang ako dahil naging ******** Impact na saka naging mabagal ang community dahil sa baba ng chance ng gatcha.haha. dumating din ako sa point nung game na dailies>artifact>exit since almost explored na lahat ng map at nsa AR59 na. naing 2 hour routine per day and dahil paulit2, nasawa. but the storyline of this game is one of the best.

One of the best game na nalaro ko, story nya sobrang ganda, almost lahat ng character may history, tapos for me this game gives you game life balance, 1-2 hours a day okay na kung nasa bandang AR55 ka na. Remember na this game is first aimed at CN players at the sametime CN Company may ari, may batas dun na 1.5hrs daily lang ata pwede maglaro especially mga minors.

Day 1 player here 😆
