Fact-Finding
Fact finding is defined as the process of collecting information about the proposed system, its requirements and the preferences by interviews, documentation, review and research and sampling.
Fact finding can also be called as data collection and information gathering. Fact finding is generally performed during system planning and system analysis phase because during these phases, system analyst collect data about problems, scope and opportunities etc.
Following are the techniques that are used for the fact-finding which are as follows:
• Interviews
• Observation of the working environment
• Research
• Sampling of documentation
• Questionnaires
• RAD( Rapid Application Development)
• JAD( Joint Application Development)
Five questions are used in fact-finding. These questions are what, when, who, where and how.
1. Who: Who will perform procedures in the system, Are the activities are performed by correct people, Can these tasks are performed more efficiently by other people.
2. What: What is to be done by new system, What procedures should be followed by and why these processes are necessary.
3. Where: Where operations should be performed, where these operations could be performed, Can these operations be performed more efficiently elsewhere.
4. When: When a procedure should be performed, is this best time for performing these procedures, why these procedures are performed at this time.
5. How: How a procedure is performed, Can this procedure is performed more effectively and less expensively.

Additional Question related to fact finding
Fact finding include some more question other than what, why, where, how and when. Some additional questions are as follows:
• Which business function should be supported by the current system
• What are the business requirements and strategic objectives should the new system support
• What will be the total cost of ownership and the benefits of the proposed system
• Which type of information do the managers and the users need from the new system
• Which risks are acceptable
• Which transaction can be performed using the proposed system
• What budget and timetable will affect the system development
• What security risks can exist in the new system
• Which procedures could be rejected by system developers

Consider SmartPhone:

Design : When it comes to design the user goes with what kind frame it is used, plastic or Aluminium or some kind of metal, Glass: we consider Gorilla glass as strong one with any coating on it and the finishing on it whether it has smooth edge or how it is designed through the whole body. Is it resistant to water, dust or not. Size and weight of the Smart phone. Screen size how big it is whether it is handy or to much for a hand. Screen resolution,True tone adjustment, any sensors available or not.

a. Good : The smartphone is used for making phone calls, sending mails, messages or to chat. It can be used for Navigation, Alarm, Calculator. You can play games in smart phone. You can take photos, videos. Listening to music, FM radio. Now a days we have so many applications which can keep us busy for the whole day like games, video imitating apps etc. We can browse internet, read news. we can watch videos, movies, web series everything. Smartphone is like mini computer with good computing speed. The device works very fast without any hang as it matches with almost the speed and processing of computer.

Bad: The smartphone radiation causes health hazards for the user or the environment, due to the signals strength or waves there is mutation in many kind of birds which are not strong enough to handle the effect of radiation which causes the extinct of many species as everything is a part of food chain. Then there will be effect over the humans due to extensive speaking in phone ear and brain issues may raise due to high radiation and it causes infertility in man if it kept near the pant pockets and causes heart diseases if it kept near the heart. Sleeping with smartphone near brain causes lots of danger due to effect of radiation

b : Usability and user experience goals:

These are Important one:

Smartphones need a good processing speed for computing in good speed and need good amout of RAM for parallel processing. High amout of internal storage to save huge amout of data. Need good design so that it can withstand to all kind of usage. Need good battery backup as no one likes to charge it frequently. It should be water and dust resistant so it will be safe in rainy too.

Non important :

Audio Jack, Type of connectivity it has , whether bluetooth or infrared is needed, extra features like Fingerprint sensor or even iris sensors. These are not just to lock/unlock a handset but as a password to access certain files, documents or apps.User interface or OS version, mostly the user interface should be user friendly and have a good camera quality for photos and videos, Weight whether it is too much, glass type, It supports dual sim or not .
