In Philippians 2:5, Paul encourages the Philippians to have the same mindset or thinking as Christ Jesus. This means having the same attitude in relationships with one another. The attitude of Christ Jesus was that of radical humility and obedience, even though He was with God and was God. He lowered Himself not only by becoming a man, but by dying on the cross, and because of this, God the Father rewarded Jesus with rulership over the earth. Paul's letter to the Philippians encourages them to rejoice even in difficult circumstances. The word "mind" in Philippians 2:5 does not mean mental activity or intellectual process, but it means attitude.
