At 32, Sarah Geronimo learns to manage her own finances

Sarah Geronimo, now 32 and married, is learning how to grow her earnings after two decades in the entertainment industry.

She said, "Kumbaga, kung ano man yung naipon mo, naka-park lang sa bangko…

Widely known for guarding Sarah, Divine Geronimo also handled her famous daughter’s earnings from showbiz until she bolted her mom’s household to get married.

Larking about with the press in a digital interview organized by Manulife via Zoom last Thursday, October 15, Sarah quipped, "Parang na-expedite yung adulting ko, ano."

She further shared, "Nagkaroon ng asawa 'tapos ngayon ko na na-e-experience how to handle my own finances.

"How to budget kung ano man yung meron ako, how to invest kung ano man yung naipon ko.

As an endorser of Manulife, Sarah said she has been learning more about growing her earnings for a more secure future.

Elaborating, she said, "Sabi nila, hindi siya magiging sa iyo hanggang sa you get to invest it.

"Kumbaga, kung ano man yung naipon mo, naka-park lang sa bangko, hindi pa siya sa iyo until you get to invest it."

LEARNING TOGETHER, GROWING A FAMILY

Unlearning what was instilled in her about money from childhood and entering the new world of financial management, Sarah admitted it was all too much for her in the beginning.

Without the help of Matteo and trusted friends, the Kapamilya performer said she would have been lost.

I must say, mahirap po siya especially for me, nao-overwhelm ako at first.

"Pero mas napapadali kasi may mga tao po like my manager Boss Vic del Rosario, Manulife.

"Of course, my husband… na talaga namang mature din sa ganito.

"Kumbaga, we are learning together.

But as she began to learn more, Sarah revealed, "To be honest, medyo panic mode po ano kasi nga ngayon mo lang nalalaman talaga lahat, e.

"Mas intensify siya ngayon kasi nga po now that I’m building my own family. Grabe po ano, I’m building my own, parang wow."

LOOKING FORWARD

Now that she has gotten her footing in managing her finances, Sarah said getting life and health policies are the best types of investment.

Then she added, "Isa sa maganda investment is property, ganyan."
