(do it at your own risk)
Just sharing simple tips of using SD Card as Internal Storage. Though nowadays this is not necessary, but if you want you can expand your phone memory to 32/64/128/256GB with some simple steps.
If you're lucky, your smartphone will allow you to do this without having to connect it to a PC. This method is likely your only hope, if you run a newer version of Android (7.0 Nougat or 8.0 Oreo). This menu is hidden in MIUI but available for use in miui 9 and 10.
First you need to back up important files or photos in
Here's how to check:
-Put the SD card on your Android phone and wait for it to be recognized
-Open Settings > Storage
-Tap the name of your SD card.
-Tap the three vertical dots on the top right corner of the screen.
-Tap Storage Settings.
-Select format as internal option.
-Tap Erase & Format at the prompt
Android will then offer to migrate your data
.
What's the catch?
micro SD-Card is slower than internal storage, actually, it depends on device, how powerful your device is.
If your device has 4/8/16GB Internal Memory, then do this. Otherwise, there is no need I guess. And if you are going to do it. I will suggest using some original Class 10 SD Cards
-MicroSD cards are not as fast as the internal memory of the smartphone. So don't waste money on the cheaper ones, and instead get yourself memory cards with a reasonable read throughput. The Extreme Pros and the Extreme Plus MicroSD cards by Sandisk have proved to be the best value for the money, in our opinion. With 74 MB/s write throughput, you should not experience any delays in everyday life and benefit from considerably more memory.
How to Safely remove an internally partitioned SD card
To safely remove the SD card from the smartphone, you must reverse the above process. Since your storage space on the internal memory is probably not sufficient, you first have to transfer pictures to another form of storage and uninstall apps.
-go back to the Memory & USB settings
-tap Move data under Internal memory in the menu.
- go to the SD card and format it as mobile memory.
-Perform both steps (backing up and formatting) so that your data cannot be lost and you can use the SD card on other devices.
or
To Revert back/Use SD Card as External Storage.
Just Remove SD Card from your phone.Tap on the notification which will come.Select Forget SD Card.
For xiaomi phones
Use your microsd card as internal storage (no root)
If you bought a cheap xiaomi phone but you are running out of storage, you can use adoptable storage function to convert your micro sd card as the internal memory. This menu is hidden in MIUI but available for use in miui 9 and 10.
First you need to backup important files or photos in microsd card
1) Download Activity Launcher
2) Change view to All Activities
3) Select Files (below file manager), then open any option. This opens up the android file manager.
4) Click menu button on top left, switch to your micro sd card.
5) Press the 3 dots on the top right, choose storage settings
6) Select format as internal and follow the instructions. Keep your phone charged while it is moving data
Now your android will have more storage for apps, and you can download bigger files without any insufficient storage issue. use a fast v30 memory card.
Remember to always backup your data and use google photos to sync in case your memory card corrupts. Your phone will not be corrupted if the memory card spoils because only user apps are moved, and the critical system app remains on the phone.
