The popularity of SUVs isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s also why most manufacturers have at least one crossover/SUV model in their lineup. Just take a look at Lamborghini, for example. The Italian supercar marque introduced the Urus SUV in 2017, and it has since become one of their most popular models. Recently, the Lamborghini even hit a milestone for the super SUV
As of July 20, 2021, Lamborghini recorded a production milestone for the Urus, having built 15,000 units already. Not bad considering, they just built the 10,000th unit last July 2020. According to the company, the Urus set the record of “the highest produced model in the company’s history in the shortest amount of time since its launch”.
What about the Urus with chassis number 15,000? Well, it’s a right-hand drive model destined for the UK. And no, it's not going to be a museum piece. It’s configured with the latest “Graphite Capsule” set of colors and finishes. The exterior is made in the new shade of Grigio Keres Matt, with Verde ******* details. Meanwhile, the two-tone interior is dedicated to the new collection in Nero Ade/Verde *******.
The numbers are low compared to the SUV production figures of major automakers. But remember, Lamborghini is anything but a mass-market brand. The Urus retails way above a standard 7-seat SUV. Still, it contributed to the overall increase in Lamborghini sales. In 2019, the company’s sales volume doubled the first year it was fully marketed.
The Urus may be an SUV, but it still has supercar performance numbers. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 650 HP and 850 Nm torque paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. As a result, the super SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and 200 km/h in 12.8 seconds. Its top speed is rated at 305 km/h, making it one of the fastest SUVs on the market.
