The Lexus IS350 F Sport has been at the top of the nameplate’s hierarchy in terms of performance for quite some time now. But apparently, Lexus thinks that its smallest sedan could use a bit more oomph, which is why it gives ut the new IS500 F Sport Performance.
As the name implies, the first offering from the F Sport Performance line now boasts a 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 that puts out 472bhp and 395lb-ft of torque. Mated to an 8-speed AT, it rockets the new IS variant from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Apart from straight-line speed, the IS500 F Sport Performance also gets a few goodies such as the brand’s Dynamic Handling Package with Active Suspension, Torsen limited-slip differential, and
Yamaha-sourced rear performance dampers. All these make for improved handling, cornering, and overall torsional rigidity. Brakes are also larger at 14-inches up front and 12.7-inches at the rear.
You can tell the new variant from its lower-spec siblings with the taller power dome on the hood, as well as the wider fenders that make room for the Enkei 19-inch alloys and new rubber. The changes continue inside with a new instrument cluster welcome animation, a revised set of pedals, and F Sport Performance badges.
Plus, the new IS500 F Sport Performance gets the whole suite of Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 tech to make this ride a truly safe one despite the performance upgrade.
The new Lexus IS500 F Sport Performance will be available by the 3rd quarter of 2021.
