The Green Lady Of Wahiawa

By day, the Wahiawa Botanical Garden is a beautiful destination for those wanting to see lush tropical flora. Nearby, however, is home to a legend of a much more ghastly sight. If you decide to peer down into the nearby gulch at twilight, you may just see a glimpse of a local legendary obake, or ghost, The Green Lady of Wahiawa.

Wahiawa Botanical Garden is located on the island of O'ahu in Hawaii. The 27-acre botanical garden is located between the Wai'anae and Ko'olau mountain ranges and is home to all kinds of tropical plants. It is also supposedly home to the Green Lady.

The Green Lady is said to be a ghost who haunts the area around Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Legend says that she is a mother who would regularly go to the area with her children, but cross the gulch in Wahiawa instead of crossing the bridge as she was afraid her children would get hit by a car.

The story says that one night, while returning home, the mother got separated from her children and desperately searched for them in the gulch. When she tried to find help, she was unable to. The woman then went back to the gulch, and disappeared like her children.

Many people have claimed that, since that time, there has been a ghost in the gulch covered in moss and vines. The green ghost still searches for her lost children, and will supposedly take any children she comes across. Other stories say that she has green scales and hair covered in seaweed, as well as sharp, jagged teeth.

The grief that she held to her heart all those years of losing her beloved children & not getting any help at the time when there might have been a chance to find them runs deep in her soul with the locals. So to help with that grief, she would s†éál away any child who come within reach of the gulch. And that child is never seen again.

Crazy, as it is Children and teens in the area of Wahiawa, will sometimes dare one another to run across the bridge to see if they get a glimpse of the Green Lady. However, they say the Green Lady will never come up on the bridge to take children so they think it is safe.
To this day, she haunts the Wahiawa Gulch area along with the Wahiawa Botanical Garden area and even the Wahiawa Elementary School area.

The ghostly woman is said to be green in appearance, hence the Green Lady name, and to also have green, fish like scales along with jagged teeth and hair that is covered in seaweed. Obviously not something you'd want to run into in the dark, spooky forest. As if that wasn't scary enough, it's also said that she is still looking for her missing child and will take any child she comes across

The green woman also has a very bad smell, likely because of the rotting plant matter that covers her body. So many who suddenly smell the odor of decaying plant material believe that means she is nearby.
