Postmodern music:
  • Music tradition produced in the postmodern era.
  • Music that follows aesthetical and philosophical trends of postmodernism.
  • As an aesthetic movement it was formed partly in reaction to modernism but is not primarily defined as oppositional to modernist music.

POSTMODERN MUSIC

- Go beyond (nilagpasan ang) tradition (type of music) and modernism.
Di ko din 'to maexplain.

- During post modernism lahat daw ay considered equal, walang high form of art or low form of art in fact yung wall daw na nagseseparate sa high and low art form ay na broken down noong panahon ng postmodernism.

- No common genre or walang specific genre ang postmodern music, each composition daw ay considered unique genre. Hindi daw magegeneralize ang post modern composition in terms of style.

Atonality is simply the absence of tonality, tonality being the musical system based on major and minor keys, it is a condition of music in which the constructs of the music do not “live” within the confines of a particular key signature, scale, or mode. To the uninitiated listener, atonal music can sound like chaotic, random noise.

Kabaliktaran daw to ng tonality, meaning hindi ito base sa major or minor keys unlike tonality (absence of tonality, tonality being the musical system based on major and minor keys) hindi daw sumusunod sa particular key signature, scale or mode, if normal na tao daw ang makikinig para daw 'tong chaotic sound or random noise lang.

Serialism is a way of composing music using a series of notes in a particular order and using this to build up a whole piece of music. These series and patterns can also be applied to other parts of music (like how loud or soft it is).

Serialism, in music, technique that has been used in some musical compositions roughly since World War I. Strictly speaking, a serial pattern in music is merely one that repeats over and over for a significant stretch of a composition.

a compositional technique in which a fixed series of notes, especially the twelve notes of the chromatic scale, are used to generate the harmonic and melodic basis of a piece and are subject to change only in specific ways. The first fully serial movements appeared in 1923 in works by Arnold Schoenberg.

Serialism from the word series.

Ang gamit daw sa serialism ay series of notes in particular order na inuulit para makabuo ng whole piece of music.
(Strictly speaking, a serial pattern in music is merely one that repeats over and over for a significant stretch of a composition. ) Paulit ulit lang daw yung pattern ng music hangang makabuo ng composition o kanta.

Improvisation something that is improvised, especially a piece of music, drama, etc., created without preparation.
plural noun: improvisations "free-form jazz improvisations"

Pwedeng free style, hindi daw nag prepare kapag sa sayaw diba yung mga nag babattle keme usually improvised yun.

Extended technique is a term used in music to describe unconventional (hindi kinaugalian, not normal), unorthodox or "improper" techniques of singing, or of playing musical instruments.

Example 'to ng extended techniques, tulad daw ng special effect sa keyboard, kapag sa gitara diba yung mga nag hahampas sa gitara yung nag tatap sa gitara nila like that, kapag sa kanta idk kung kasama yung whistle ni MorissetteAmon since unconventional yun.

Extended techniques for piano include e.g. performance inside the instrument or special effects produced on the keyboard; for wind and brass instruments – multiphonics (the production of more than one pitch at the same time), playing without blowing, playing on the mouthpiece alone; for strings – percussive effects on the strings or body of the instrument, unconventional bowing. Extended vocal techniques contain a variety of articulations changing the timbre of a human voice. Since a traditional music notation seems inadequate to depict these techniques composers often invent new notational signs and append to the scores performance instructions.
