Julian belonged to the Raven's Nest, a place for orphans and kids kissed by misfortune. The Archbishop took and trained these kids to be loyal to the church and to be disciplined. But in essence, they are to become the shadow of the church and a slave to their words. These kids in Raven's Nest are named Nestlings.

Julian spent his time working hard to train and learn. He could only find comfort in his cave with his guest friends; a rodent, a sparrow, and a goat. He looked like crazy talking to them with his grievances and praises. But he was happy with his peaceful company so he allocated his own food to make his cave guest happy.

He lived in a cave but his guest made the walls and the ceilings of his home bright.

One day, the Archbishop surprised them a three-day long training to challenge their discipline, time management, strength and intellect. This will show the Archbishop the things the Nestlings learned in the past months but for Julian, it's like a walk in the park with dumbbells shäçkled in his limbs. A simple but tiresome exercise. For him, this test was more like a test of his energy and stamina.

Evening came and the ration for food arrived. Julian's guests were like children that line up, excited for the treats they will receive.

"Today's could be special." Julian said. "We had a harsh day but the church always ρáíd us the best meal each time. We'll have this treats for a week!"

Julian drew a wry smile. His smile looked innocent and forced but it looked creepy if it's your first sight.

When the food arrived, Julian greedily uncovered the plates. But his brows crumpled and his eyes sharpened at the delivery man.

"What's this?"

"What?" the delivery man replied. He looked confused.

"This looked even less than our usual meal."

"I merely deliver them. If you have problems, take your own meal tomorrow in the kitchen."

Julian's face looked disappointed. He took the meal and though it's even less than before, he shared some to his guests.

A day later, another harsh training. Julian performed perfectly still but the effort he needed to yield almost dried his sweat. He returned dragging his foot to his cave. He eagerly awaited for his meal but just like yesterday, it was even lesser.

"This is not good. How can I perform well if the food they gave are small--" Julian said but a sharp light sparked in his brain. He realized something is wrong. "I need to investigate."

It is Wednesday, wash day. Julian was doing laundry with the Nestlings. When he took the detergent fluid, a chubby, little fat Nestlings beat him to it.

"Better luck next time!" the Nestling said, smirking at Julian.

Julian realized that that Nestlings has his eyes on him. When that Nestling returned to his group of Nestlings, they kept taking glances at Julian followed with laughters, shooting him with smiles of mockery.

Julian simply bit his lips. He almost torn his clothes as he tighten his grips. He wanted to hang these troublesome Nestlings in a sour apple tree. But the Archbishop would not smile as such actions such as petty as a detergent.

Another night has passed and Julian sneaked on the kitchen to check on his share of food. There he saw the troublesome Nestling, taking large portions of his share of food.

"So it's you! What a glutton." Julian whispered to himself and scoffed. He gaze at the fat Nestling sneering as he crawled to the kitchen's back door.

Early in the morning, Julian rushed to the chubby Nestlings room and saw the bottle of flavored water and an untouched portions of venison and steak that should have been his. The chubby Nestling's appetite could have urged him to gorge on that tasty and juicy steak but the still gleaming slice of meat was left perfect in it's shape. However, the bottle of orange-flavored juice turned to have been consumed. Less than a quart of the juice was left so it's true. Once hungry, people look to drink first.

"How could he not notice it?" Julian smirked.

At lunch break when the young Nestlings met in a dining room, Julian heard the troublesome Nestlings discussing about their friend, the fat Nestling having intense pain in his guts. After the supper was delivered, the fat Nestling rushed to them, pale and gasping for air. He told them that his intestines are ripping apart so they called the Archbishop's hand. After that, they know nothing what happened to their friend.

At that same time, the Archbishop's hand was distributing food around the table and he caught Julian gazing at the troublesome boys. "Worried?"

"Not really, but where's he?" Julian said.

"Well. He's complaining so hard about his belly so we removed the the belly from him. Isn't that mercy?" the hand said.

"You mean. You cut it?" Julian was shocked. Did they just kill the fat Nestling? Honestly, he just put fluid detergent on his orange juice. Nevertheless, if they discovered his gluttony then he'll probably get excommunicated.

"Hah!" the hand sounded with a smile.

But then a tap on Julian's shoulder came. The Archbishop!

"Don't scare them like that." The Archbishop said in a gentle voice. "He's in the Monastery of Light getting healed."

Julian exhaled a deep sigh. The guilty thought perished in his mind. It's what you got from being a glutton. At least, I'll have my share of food in perfect size.
