In the grand scheme of things - (maybe we are overestimating life because this is what we naturally value most) - but life can be viewed to just be a complex chemical reaction, similar to fire... and along with the laws of thermodynamics, it is just destined to end.
Conciousness might have just made things seem complicated. Because we are concious to want to avoid death naturally, but we are too highly concious too, to be able to accept death.
