Let's play a game. How well do you remember car prices from 15 years ago?

We were a little inspired by You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. we shared with you about a week ago, so we decided to share another retro price list. This time, it's from Honda, and it's from 2006.

2006 was a big year for Honda in the country. They had just launched the eighth-generation Civic (FD body), and they also updated the Jazz and the City. It was a very exciting time for the Japanese automaker, indeed.

It's also worth pointing out that the lineup wasn't that expansive either. Today, we're spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing a Honda. But back in 2006, Honda only had five models to offer. These were the City, the Jazz, the Civic, the CR-V, and the Accord.

Today, the City is about the size of a Civic, the Civic now offers executive car levels of space, the CR-V finally has a diesel, while the Accord is still the automaker's flagship sedan. But now we have models such as the Brio, Mobilio, and BR-V to cater to a new kind of car buyer, plus the HR-V for the lifestyle crowd. We no longer have the Jazz but its spirit lives on in the all-new City Hatchback.

We won't keep you waiting any longer. Let's go back 15 years and see how much Hondas were during those exciting times.

Were your guesses correct? If you said the Civic hovered in the PHP 700,000 mark, you would be somewhat correct. PHP 767,000 would get you a variant that no longer exists today; a Civic with a manual. Even better, you can get a 2.0-liter Civic with a third pedal. How we'd love to have a Civic RS with a six-speed.

2006 was also the time when the City and the Jazz were quite far apart in pricing. It's rather interesting to note that because, towards the end of the Jazz's life, it was about the same price as the City. As for the CR-V, it reminded us of the time they offered it as an eight-seater to skirt tariffs. At least the seven-seater CR-V of today is a much more comfortable place to be.

But what about the Accord? PHP 1,430,000 was serious money for a car back then, and you needed to shell out a whole lot more if you wanted the V6. But either way, you got your money's worth with this executive sedan.

Before you say that cars were much more affordable over a decade ago, you have to remember a little something called inflation. At the time, PHP 1,000,000 was a big chunk of cash for a car. Today, that value is more acceptable for car shoppers. Besides, cars today offer a lot more features and safety equipment than ever, so they're much better value propositions, too.

Of course, that's not stopping us from reminiscing. Besides, 2006 was quite the year for Honda.

And if you have price lists from days gone by, why not send them to us? You might just help us with our throwbacks

Special thanks to Anju Reyes for the price list.
