The LOS indicator on your PLDT Home Fiber modem would suddenly start blinking. It could be due to routine maintenance or intentional cable cutting and port disconnection. If you suspect you’re in the latter situation, you can contact PLDT for immediate assistance.

How to report cable cutting and port disconnection incidents to PLDT?

PLDT has a special You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. for reporting incidents relating to technicians. It is available in English and Filipino. It can be used when detecting technicians disconnecting existing lines to host another subscriber, charging payments for faster service or acting unprofessionally.

You can also use the complaint form for unauthorized persons who claim to be PLDT technicians or contractors, but do not have a valid ID.

In the complaint form, you must provide your ticket number or reference number, the date of the incident and a description of the problem. You will also be asked to provide a mobile phone number where a PLDT representative can contact you. Any information you submit through the complaint form will be held securely in accordance with the company's privacy policy; Technicians will not be aware of what you submitted on the form.

For other matters, such as requesting the status of an application or following up on a repair request, PLDT can be reached through various official channels, such as Facebook Messenger, the myPLDT Smart app or a virtual appointment.

Why intentional disconnection and cable theft happen?

Technicians and third parties who are there only for profit would not hesitate to commit îllégâl activities such as freeing ports to process pending requests, even when their actions can seriously affect existing subscribers.

PLDT reminds the public that the company does not charge customers to escalate the application queue or to have their repair requests prioritized. If you tolerate this, technicians and contractors are only encouraged to continue their abuses.

Cables are also worth a lot of money, hence the recent increase in cable thefts. For example, in March 2022, a woman in Barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City was reportedly caught cutting a five-meter cable worth Php22,000, disconnecting 200 internet subscribers in the area.

Note that these problems are not limited to the PLDT, as other ISPs and their subscribers also suffer from similar incidents. In June 2022, Sky Cable launched its Oplan Kontra Putol to combat cable theft. Last month, Globe coordinated with authorities to arrest violators of the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013. Third-party companies were among those arrested.
