You are the one who is cherry-picking. Seems to me your trying to paint the God of the bible in your own understanding and ways. Which clearly your being a "straw man". Which clearly you do not know who is the God of the Bible. Why? Trying to say that God is committing atrocities clearly you have not known Him.

Let me give this to you. God has all the right in the world to take someones life because He is the giver of life. Even God did not punish the Canaanites they will soon die anyway. When God kills its not murder, He just takes the life that He gave. We have all the appointed time when God will take our lives.
Whatever God's do is righteous even in our finite eyes will never understand
