It seems we won't have to wait too long. Ford has officially confirmed that the next-generation Everest will arrive in the first quarter of 2022. Best of all, the automaker has also provided us the first official photos of the SUV albeit camouflaged.

The design of the upcoming Everest's front end is no longer a surprise to us. It adopts the face of the new Ranger. With that, you can see the familiar C-shaped LED headlights and DRL along with the dual-port grille. Ford didn't just carry over the entire design, though. The bumper has been slightly tweaked with a larger center intake and revised foglight housings.

From the side, the SUV's profile still resembles the current-generation Everest. Apart from the wheels, the main difference would be the window outline. Specifically, the rear quarter windows have been redesigned and are now more angular compared to before.

At the rear, Ford appears to have cleaned up the design of the SUV. The bumper doesn't appear to have the faux skid plate, giving the SUV a sleeker look. However, the biggest redesign is the taillights. They now adopt a rotated L-shape design and appear to be connected by a trim piece below the back glass.

Ford did not provide any photos of the new Everest's interior, but we suspect it will be similar to the new Ranger. As for powertrains, the SUV will likely use the same engine options as the 2022 Ranger. These include a 2.0-liter diesel EcoBlue four-cylinder and a new twin-turbo V6 diesel mill. It's the same story with the transmissions, which include a 6-speed automatic, 10-speed automatic, and a 6-speed manual.

The automaker did not specifically say when the new Everest will arrive in Q1 2022. But with the official photos they've provided, we're already excited.
