In the press conference just now, Flash has just announced that it will be splitting from parent company Alcatel. The new subsidiary will just be named Flash, taken from the brand’s mid-entry level smartphones that it introduced in the in Southeast Asia in the last couple of years.

In an exclusive phone interview, this afternoon with Albert Wong (General Manager, Flash 3C., Ltd) andMichael Chen (Deputy General Manager, Product & Marketing Director), the top executives of Flash shared their plans and strategy with the new company.

The decision to split Flash from parent company Alcatel allows the new team to focus on their two hero products — Flash and Flash Plus series. This includes a stronger presence in the Southeast Asian region (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam) and India. Flash fans can now expect the regular update and improvements of both the Flash and Flash Plus series. It’s going to be a tight ship considering that the new brand will only handle two new handsets a year.

Their plan is an online-first approach which explains that the initial release normally goes thru an online store or a local partner like Lazada. In the Philippines, the team is quite new and only started becoming very active last year.

Wong promised that Flash will continue to deliver the best value smartphones in the market and the You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. is a testament to that.
