When news of Starlink’s arrival in the Philippines first broke out, many were skeptical about its performance in a country notorious for its slow and unreliable internet connection.
However, Ookla’s latest Speedtest Intelligence data showed that billionaire Elon Musk’s Starlink, which utilizes low earth orbit technology, had exceeded expectations in the country.

During the first quarter of 2023, Starlink’s median download speed in the Philippines was at an impressive 110.78 Mbps, faster than all fixed broadband providers combined.
This came as a surprise to many as Starlink was only launched in the country in February this year. It was a welcome development for Filipinos who have long been frustrated with their internet service providers.

However, Ookla noted that Starlink had a higher latency than fixed broadband providers in the Philippines, clocking in at 162 milliseconds in the first quarter.
Latency is a measurement of the time it takes to send data and receive a response.
“As 2023 continues to shape up as a pivotal year for satellite internet providers, we’ll be watching the sky to make sure providers are providing the connectivity consumers need,” said internet data monitoring firm Ookla.

This is an exciting time for the country as it braces itself for the digital future.

Looks promising...

You will have a reliable and fast internet connection, totoo nga na mahal yung installation fee nito pero in the long run sobrang laki na ng tulong nito.
