MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has lifted the moratorium on oil and gas exploration in the West Philippine Sea, the Department of Energy (DOE) said Thursday.
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said in a statement that a “resume to work” notice was issued by the DOE to the Service Contractors doing petroleum-related activities in the areas of SC 59, 72, and 75 in the West Philippine Sea.

SCs 59 and 72 are operated by the Philippine National Oil Company-Exploration Corp. (PNOC-EC) and Forum Ltd., respectively. Meanwhile, PXP Energy Corp. operates SC 75.
“With the impending depletion of our natural gas reserve in Malampaya, it is the department’s position that there is an urgent imperative to resume exploration, development, and production activities within our EEZ to ensure continuity of supply of indigenous resources in the country,” Cusi said.

The Aquino administration issued a moratorium on all exploration and drilling activities covering the disputed West Philippine Sea in 2014 amid rising geopolitical tensions between the Philippines and China.
Duterte’s pivot to China enabled the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Manila and Beijing for a joint oil and gas exploration deal in the West Philippine Sea.

Cusi said the lifting of the moratorium was arrived at “in good faith” and with full regard for the ongoing negotiations between the Philippines and China, and Forum Ltd. and the China National Offshore Corp. (CNOOC).

China has been pushing for its expansive claims in the South China Sea which overlaps to the Philippine territory.
Beijing has refused to recognize the 2016 ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) that invalidated its ambitious nine-dash line feature that virtually owns the entire body of water.

Meanwhile, Duterte has chosen to shelve the PCA ruling in exchange for Chinese economic perks to help fund his administration’s infrastructure projects even as the Asian powerhouse continues its military activities within the Philippine territory.

This duterte guy literally gives the country on a silver platter to china... The Philippines will never stand up again ; we are doomed thanks to the 16 millions minority who voted for him 🤮

So our girl power goddess Ate Glo was the one pulling the strings all along, She hijacked the Congress and then convinced PDUTS that being an ally to Tsina will give us prosperity.

Glo did not have a lot to do to convince duterte ! He is a chinese puppet ... all was planned since before the elections !

it was planned way back sa pamumuno ni ate Glo, a foreign intelligence agency derailed her plan, they wire tapped her every phone conversation hence we have the "hello Garci tape".

china said share will be 60/40 in favor of PH, while china will do the oil exploration along with ph scientist, whereas in malampaya only 10% goes to PNOC which is very unfavorable to the PH. duts policy is friends to all, enemy to none. this is not a surprising action of duts.

my installment fee at finders fee, yung malampaya..

60-40 yung hatian too good to be true coming from a money hungry country... pero kung totoo yan then magaling. parang nangyari sa Azerbaijan na naging friendly at giving yung Russia at Turkey dahil sa kanilang fossil fuel.

ang tanong kung ilan yung pupunta sa publiko at parang mga private companies yung mag handle ng processing ng oil.
maganda sana kung government based yun.

syempre Tsina company yan. Nagamit naman nang current admin yung funds nang malampaya, pati ata sa panahon ni noynoy at nagka issue noon yung same time na si napoles di pa nakulong.

[XX='Cosmic_Ray_MutagenesisX, c: 458607, m: 262490'][/XX] haha, badtrip sukli lang pala pupunta satin.
40/60 pero puro chinese comp at private comp yung mag process ng oil haha.

how much will go to the ph? it's 60% of whatever present down there in WPS and china will finance the exploration. how much will go to the public of PH, that depends on the law that the congress will pass, remember what they did in malampaya, they inserted a the phrase which enables them to use the fund on their liking. 10% na nga lang na balaho pa.
