Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 5) — Ninety-one percent of Filipinos surveyed were satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte eight months into the country's COVID-19 crisis that has disrupted the lives and livelihood of millions of Filipinos, an independent pollster has found.

Pulse Asia on Monday reported the findings of its nationwide survey conducted from Sept. 14 to 20 on 1,200 adults nationwide.

The President's approval rating increased by 4 percentage points compared to the rating he received in You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. His trust rating also went up by 8 percentage points to 91 percent.

Vice President Leni Robredo received a 57 percent approval rating, down by one percentage point compared to the rating she received in the Pulse Asia survey conducted in the end of 2019. Her trust rating dropped by 3 percentage points to 50 percent in September despite her office's numerous COVID-19 initiatives.

Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III garnered 84 percent approval rating, similar to the score he received in December 2019.

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, who is at the center of a leadership tussle in the House of Representatives, suffered a double-digit drop of 10 percentage points in his approval rating, which plunged to 70 in a span of nine months.

His trust rating fell 9 percentage points from 76 to 67 percent.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta — who was appointed chief magistrate in October 2019 — only received a 44 percent approval rating and 39 percent trust rating as only 68 percent of those surveyed were aware of him and his position in the judiciary.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque attributed the stark difference in the ratings of Duterte and Robredo to their leadership styles amid the pandemic.

"Ang pangako po talaga ng Presidente, gagawin niya ang lahat para makabangon po tayo sa pandemyang ito at isasantabi po talaga niya ang pulitika..." he said in a media briefing. "Madam VP, mukhang tama ang aking sinabi: ayaw ata ng Pilipinong namumulitika sa panahon ng pandemya."

[Translation: The President's promise is set aside politics and recover from the pandemic. Madam VP, I was right that Filipinos don't like politicking amid the pandemic.]

.... And all the brainless dds clap blindly!!

Only in dictatorial countries (like in Africa or North Korea) that we can find this kind of approval rate! In any democratic country, surveys are made truthfully enough to give a real picture of a government approval rate.

False Asia like SWS are just businesses... whoever pays for a survey will get what they want! It's not new, since they operate, it's the same BS, whatever the government... but under duterte it becomes so obvious and laughable... Who, in his/her right mind, could believe these results? 🤣

duterte = Covid91 🤣

The sample size is not the problem. Many SERIOUS and RELIABLE foreign surveys firms use this kind of sample but they know how to make real surveys ! Here, in the Philippines, surveys don't exist: you give money to False Asia or SWS and ask for, let say a 91 percent satisfaction rate and you just get it... it's as simple as that! only dds can believe these figures ;)

it seems that very few people here are defending this absurd survey! Maybe even the dds think it's a bit too much haha!

Just for the sake of the argument, let say these surveys are not fake so.... Social Weather Stations published a survey about joblessness in the Philippines yesterday, which is about 39,5%. Now someone explains me, in which country are 40% of the adults unemployed and their failing, treasonous president gets 91% approval.

Also, New Zealand, once again, defeat the virus with the Prime Minister getting 65 % ratings . Meanwhile in Philippines still struggling with covid cases but our President has 91 % ratings !
Panalo talaga tayo no ? 🤣

....Just wondering how Pulse Asia was able to conduct a NATIONWIDE FACE-TO-FACE survey last September when domestic travel is very limited and primarily allowed for LSIs only? Papano, magic carpet ride?

Maybe we need to validate how reliable is the survey conducted many times throughout the country.. Like the image below conducted before 2016 Presidential Election...

I don't know why people keep comparing countries to others countries which is like comparing apples to oranges.

You cannot compare Philippines to other countries like New Zealand, there's a lot of differences between these country like population density, culture, geography and government.

New Zealander trust their government as high as 88% in terms of responding in Covid19 while Pilipinos trust the government at 80% last April 2020 survey.

Keep in mind that Philipines has 109.5 M population vs 4.8 M Population in New Zealand.

New Zealand defeated the Covid19 by trusting and following their government.

We could also defeat the the covid19 after the first ECQ if we strictly follow the government kaso pasaway tayo e sabing bawal lumabas sige parin labas, sabing bawal mag inuman sige inuma. Walang ibang pwede sisihin kundi sarili natin.

The US "got it wrong" about Saddam Hussein and Iraq, the CIA analyst who interrogated the former dictator has said.

John Nixon had numerous conversations with the deposed leader and now says that America was critically mistaken about their intervention Iraq in a number of ways.

In particular, he claims, the CIA’s view of Hussein’s attitude to using chemical weapons was wrong.

hey were also mistaken about his health, personal habits and his involvement in running Iraq.

Mr Nixon also criticised the conduct of George W Bush, under whose leadership America invaded Iraq, saying the former president heard “only what he wanted to hear” on the topic.

During the interrogations, Mr Nixon asked Hussein if he’d ever thought of engaging in a pre-emptive strike with WMDs against US troops based in Saudi Arabia.

According to Mr Nixon, writing in the Mail on Sunday, the former dictator’s reply was: “We never thought about using weapons of mass destruction. It was not discussed. Use chemical weapons against the world? Is there anyone with full faculties who would do this? Who would use these weapons when they had not been used against us?”

Mr Nixon admitted this was “not what we had expected to hear”.
The main reason the American and British governments used to justify the controversial invasion of Iraq was the supposed risk posed by the WMDs possessed by the country.

“You are going to fail,” Hussein told him. “You are going to find that it is not so easy to govern Iraq.”

When asked why he believed this, Hussein said it was because the Americans didn’t understand the Iraqi people because they didn’t know the language, mind-set of the country, the history and even the weather.

Hussein was executed in 2006, three years after his capture close to his home town of Tikrit at the hands of American Special Forces.

But his predictions were accurate: The country descended into chaos after he was removed from power, and nearly 200,000 people have died in the conflicts that followed.

Iraq is now widely regarded as a failed state, and still suffers from widespread violence, including from Isis, who are currently defending the city of Mosul.

Thirteen years on, at least 5,000 American troops remain in the country.

Mr Nixon also spoke out against Mr Bush, who was rude towards him and reportedly made inappropriate jokes about the missing WMDs.

Mr Bush blamed the CIA for Iraq’s failures, Mr Nixon said, adding that he “called its analysis ‘guesswork’ while hearing only what he wanted to hear”.
