Another British mercenary had been killed while fighting in the ranks of Kiev forces against the Russian military and its allies, the British media reported on June 12.

The mercenary, identified as former British soldier Jordan Gatley, was reportedly killed while fighting in the city of Severodonetsk, where Kiev forces have been attempting to push back the Russian military and its allies for a few weeks now.

In the recent days, the Russian military managed to capture most of Severodonetsk. Kiev forces, including the so-called International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine, sustained catastrophic losses.

Gatley served in the British army as a rifleman with the Edinburgh-based third battalion of The Rifles and was discharged from the forces in March before travelling to Ukraine. The mercenary didn’t only fight with Kiev forces, but also trained their service members.

Gatley is the second British mercenary confirmed to be killed by the Russian military in Ukraine. In April, the death of mercenary Scott Sibley was announced. The real number of British mercenaries killed in Ukraine is expected to be much higher. Kiev rarely announces the death of foreign mercenaries and London has been ignoring the issue.

Earlier this week, British mercenaries Shaun Pinner and Aidan Aslin were sentenced to death by firing squad in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Both mercenaries were captured in Mariupol city in mid-April. A third British mercenary, Andrew Hill, is still waiting for his verdict. Hill was captured near Nikolaev city in late April.

Kiev recruited thousands of mercenaries, mainly from Western states, in the early days of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. The number of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine dropped recently, as many were killed or fled back to their countries.
