Although the automaker didn't specifically say it, the concept was by all indications a preview of the next-generation BR-V. There were a lot of speculations regarding the powertrain, specs, details, and even the final design of the production model.

Today, Honda has revealed it all. Meet the 2022 BR-V.

Honda didn't just give the BR-V a slight nip-and-tuck for this second-generation model. The automaker gave it a proper makeover, making it look more like a crossover than MPV. At the front, it appears to take inspiration from the Civic and the Accord, making it look similar to the rest of the lineup. There are slim LED headlights frame by L-shaped DRLs. The grille is larger than before and extends down to the bumper. The bumper itself looks sportier with larger side vents and small LED foglights.

The changes to the 2022 BR-V's front end are drastic, but the sides and rear are a bit more subtle. Keen-eyed readers would notice it features a similar window outline as the out-going MPV. Honda even retained the upward kink of the quarter window. However, the new model adopts a single character line running down the side instead of multiple lines.

At the rear, Honda decided to adopt a minimalist design. There are a pair of slim LED taillights, which appear to be inspired by the City. To add some rugged appeal, the lower half of the bumper features black trim and an integrated skid plate. It's not all looks though; Honda says the new BR-V comes with a 220mm ground clearance.

Step inside, and it's still a 7-seater like before. The dashboard is all-new, featuring a new center stack and air-conditioning vents. Front and center is a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trim variants even come standard with leather seats. Automatic climate control is standard, and the instrument cluster features a 4.2-inch multi-info display.

Possibly the biggest upgrade to the new BRV is in terms of safety. The crossover comes with Honda Sensing. Some of the safety features include lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. For reference, it's the first time the model was fitted with the safety system.

Under the hood, the 2022 BR-V is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder mill that outputs 121 PS and 145 Nm torque. Sounds familiar? It's the same engine found in the current-generation City sedan and City Hatchback. Transmission options include a manual and a CVT.

With the 2022 BR-V now in Indonesia, the question now is this: when will Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) introduce the new crossover locally?

Daming safety feature, pero mas ok pa din yun mag rely ka sa sarili mong intuition at senses, yung expander ko kahit may rear dashcam hindi ko pa din ginagamit haha pati cruise control.
