Los Angeles Lakers Looking To Involve The San Antonio Spurs In Kyrie Irving Trade With The Brooklyn Nets In New Report.[/b]

The trade for Kyrie Irving between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets is looking more likely every day, with the lack of solid interest in Kyrie from any team not named the Lakers.

Direct trades are not working out due to the Lakers' hesitancy to give up future picks for 1-year of Irving. Brooklyn also wants them to be saddled with the Joe Harris contract. The Nets are refusing to substitute Joe Harris for Seth Curry, creating more roadblocks for both teams.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has given some insight into what the teams are trying to do for this trade to be feasible and has revealed that the San Antonio Spurs may be the facilitator of such a trade if they can offload veterans on long contracts.

The Nets won't have to worry about trading Seth Curry or Joe Harris away to the Lakers in a deal to match Westbrook's salary. The Spurs will have to send the Lakers either Josh Richardson or Doug McDermott, with McDermott still having 2-years on his contract. The Spurs are better off taking Russ' expiring contract or talking about a buyout with him if a trade is made.

The report also suggests that the Nets could want to trade for Jakob Poeltl and make him the starting center in Brooklyn for a team that still is unsure of their future. The Irving trade would generate a massive trade exception that the Nets could use in the future for more roster moves.

Considering the value of Irving is pretty low on the market, this is how they can come out of it the best. An even larger trade could see the Lakers give up Russ along with either Talen Horton-Tucker or Kendrick Nunn to acquire Josh Richardson as well, with the Spurs likely to accept a young player like THT who they can develop.

New York Knicks Officially Begin Trade Talks With Utah Jazz For Donovan Mitchell

donovan-mitchell-knicks.webp

After it was reported yesterday that the Utah Jazz are looking for possible trades to send Donovan Mitchell to a new team, everyone was buzzing about another star being on the move this offseason. The interest for Mitchell had already been narrowed down to either New York or Miami over rumors and it seems New York might be moving a little faster.

Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that the Knicks have emerged as a 'focused destination' for the Jazz over the last few days and a deal framework has already been discussed by the two teams for Mitchell,

Donovan Mitchell is a native New Yorker that many expected to be drafted to the Knicks in 2017 but the front office chose Frank Ntilikina instead, who was on the Dallas Mavericks team this season that beat Utah in the Playoffs and forced them into this rebuild.

The Jazz are having conversations with multiple teams on a Mitchell deal, but the Knicks have emerged as the focused destination over the past several days, sources said. Both sides have discussed a deal framework in the past 24 hours, those sources said.

The Knicks possess eight future first-round picks — four of their own and four acquired via trades from other teams — to use in a package. New York has also stockpiled young players, such as Quentin Grimes who is believed to be of interest to Utah, sources said. (h/t Shams Charania - The Athletic)

With Rudy Gobert already moved, it make sense for the Jazz to bottom out and try to rebuild the franchise from scratch, maybe eyeing the Draft lottery to get a player like Victor Wembanyama for their future.

The Jazz will get a lot of solid things back from New York in terms of the picks they have (NY has 5 picks in the 2023 Draft) and young players like Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Obi Toppin, and others. This trade might be materializing sooner than other rumored trades around the league, so it is one to keep an eye on.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension with the Nuggets.

Boston Celtics Offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, And A First Round Pick For Kevin Durant, The Nets Rejected And Asked Them To Add Marcus Smart And More Picks.

kd-jaylen-brown.webp

The market for Kevin Durant was supposed to mainly be the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat. Following the Suns' matching the Pacers' max offer for Deandre Ayton, it became more apparent that they would not be able to join in on the race to land Durant. However, a newcomer with an interest in KD has now emerged, with the Boston Celtics reportedly making an offer for him.

The Celtics made it to the NBA Finals but couldn't cross the final hurdle, losing to the Golden State Warriors. They addressed their need for additional playmaking and scoring by acquiring Malcolm Brogdon from the Pacers. And now it seems they wanted to try an even more drastic change, trying to get Kevin Durant by giving up one of their foundational young pieces in Jaylen Brown.

Shams Charania explained the Celtics' offer, but then also reported that the Nets immediately rejected it and came up with a counter of their own.

"The Boston Celtics recently offered a package around one-time All-Star Jaylen Brown for Durant and have emerged as a real threat to acquire Durant, league sources tell The Athletic.

"The Celtics offered Brown, guard Derrick White and a draft pick to the Nets for Durant, sources said. The proposal was rejected, and Brooklyn has asked Boston — in any proposal — to include Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player, those sources added. Currently, the Celtics are less inclined to include Smart along with multiple other player or pick assets, but the franchise is mulling over next steps on how to approach discussions.

"As of right now, the Celtics have emerged as a serious possibility as a landing spot for Durant. They have tremendous interest in bringing him in and view him as a piece that could take them over that final hurdle. Although there is work to be done, there is a deal to be had that would suffice the Nets’ overwhelming ask."

For the longest time, it has seemed like the market for KD is quite stuck, but it seems that the Celtics could find a deal that could see them land the former MVP. Durant and Tatum would be an incredibly dangerous duo, but if they have to give up 3 key players, including core members like Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown, then they might not have the firepower left to immediately challenge for the title again.

🔸 The Golden State Warriors could be forced to trade James Wiseman before his rookie contract ends, according to You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now..
Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Jordan Poole will all be in need of contract extensions, and it’s highly unlikely that the Warriors will be able to extend all of them. But the only player no one seems to be talking about is James Wiseman.
Wiseman only has two years left on his contract. By the time it ends, Golden State will be even deeper into the luxury tax, and with how young Wiseman is and how small of a role he’ll probably have on the Warriors over the next two years, other teams could be willing to overpay for him.

🔸 Free agent guard Quinn Cook has agreed to a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings.
The two-time NBA champion played for the G-League Stockton Kings last season and is competing for a third point guard spot. Last played in the NBA for Cavs 2020-21 season.

🔸 Kyrie Irving wanted new deal to guarantee he wouldn't have to play more than 60 games in a season and could sit out back-to-backs.
Kyrie Irving reportedly had some interesting demands when attempting to negotiate a new deal with the team this offseason, but Irving didn’t come to terms on a long-term deal with the Nets, and he instead opted into the final year of his contract.

🔸 The Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as a suitor for Kevin Durant.
"As of earlier this week, there were high-ranking members of the Sixers who've felt strongly about engaging with Brooklyn on a Durant trade," Ian Begley of SNY reported.
A potential deal would "almost certainly" include point guard Tyrese Maxey, per Begley, while Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle were also listed as possible options for a trade package.

🔸 Draymond Green said prime Carmelo Anthony is a better scorer than prime Kevin Durant and went on to talk about the specific reason why he is choosing Melo.
“Ooooh, Carmelo or Durant in their prime. I’m going to go Melo”, Draymond said.
“And the reason I'm going to go with Melo is I grew up watching Melo score the basketball. I grew up watching Melo get a bucket however he wanted. You wanted mid-post work? First step is crazy. You wanted straight block work? Fadeaway is tough, and Melo will bully the hell out of somebody. You want the trey ball? We all know he can do that.”
