If there’s one vehicle we’ve been waiting for this year, it’s the refreshed 2021 Toyota Innova.

Unlike the outgoing lineup of the Innova which is available in 12 different variants, the refreshed model will be offered with only 6. Toyota Motor Philippines has decided to trim down the variants to the following – V DSL A/T, G DSL A/T, G DSL M/T, E DSL A/T, E DSL M/T, and J DSL M/T.

Under the hood, TMP has opted to drop the 2.0-liter gasoline option for the Innova, making it exclusively powered by the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV diesel engine. The automaker did the same with the Fortuner last year, ditching the 2.7-liter gasoline engine.

Interestingly, the engine is now available in two stages of tune. Sadly, it won’t get the 204 PS and 500 Nm torque power found in the new Fortuner, though. Variants paired with a 6-speed automatic get 174 PS and 360 Nm torque. Meanwhile, the models with a 5-speed manual get 170 PS and 343 Nm torque.

As for specs, there are not a lot of changes. Only the range-topping V variant gets LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, and fog lamps similar to before. Meanwhile, the rest of the variants come with halogen units. There are also new 16-inch wheels offered with G and E variants and 17-inch units for the V model.

Inside, there are more changes. All variants except the base J now have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard. However, only the V and G variants get the large 7-inch display while the E gets a smaller 6.75-inch screen. V and G models also get a new two-tone interior. The Innova now seats 8 as well, and only the V variant remains a 7-seater as the second-row passengers are treated to captain seats. Previously, the Innova was available as either a 7- and 6-seat model.

Safety-wise, ABS, VSC, and Hill-Start Assist are now standard across the range. Additionally, the V variant gets a reverse camera and 7 SRS airbags.
