The Misplaced Power of Congress: Detaining Ka Eric and Violating Constitutional Rights In a recent and alarming turn of events, the Congress has wielded its power inappropriately by citing Ka Eric in contempt and detaining him for refusing to disclose his source of information, which is explicitly protected in the constitution. This incident has unquestionably raised concerns about the overreach of Congress, transforming it into a tool for political persecution rather than serving as a trusted institution of democracy. The action taken by Congress is not only unjust but also undermines the fundamental principles of freedom of the press and the right to privacy. The constitution clearly safeguards the right of individuals to protect...

Price cap on rice only 'temporary', NEDA says after stakeholders air concern Job Manahan, ABS-CBN News MANILA — The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) on Sunday sought to allay stakeholders' concerns on the rice price ceiling, which it said was only temporary. President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. set the price cap for regular milled rice at P41 per kilo and for well-milled rice at P45 a kilo. This will take effect on September 5, the Palace said. NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said Marcos' executive order on the price ceiling was not a standalone measure to lower rice prices. “We are confident that the imposition of a price ceiling is only a temporary measure. We expect rice harvest to commence soon and anticipate that...

Why not just the Philippine navy or coast guard ships do the resupply mission in brp sierra madre instead of those small boat they're currently using? According to the news articles I found, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) maintains the need to deploy small boats in the resupply mission to BRP Sierra Madre so as not to provoke China or any other claimant countries in the West Philippine Sea. The PCG also said that there is a special arrangement for the delivery of humanitarian supplies, but not for the transportation of large-scale building materials. The PCG has recently deployed its biggest multi-role response vessel, the BRP Gabriela Silang, for the resupply mission, but it still relied on smaller boats to transfer the supplies to...
Founder Leif K-Brooks made the announcement on Thursday along with a lengthy explanation about the "barrage of attacks on communication services, Omegle included, based on the behavior of a malicious subset of users." "As much as I wish circumstances were different, the stress and expense of this fight – coupled with the existing stress and expense of operating Omegle, and fighting its misuse – are simply too much," he said. "Operating Omegle is no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically," he added. "Frankly, I don’t want to have a heart attack in my 30s." Omegle shuts down after 14 years
